More Details >

In 2003, with encouragement from Oregon Governor’s Domestic Violence Council, then-executive director of HAVEN, Donna Langer, formed the WASCO COUNTY DOMESTIC VIOLENCE COUNCIL (DVC). The mission of the DVC is to promote public policy and facilitate and coordinate public and private efforts to prevent, respond to and reduce domestic violence in Wasco County.

The vision of DVC is to ensure the safety, well-being, and stability of all people in Wasco County.

The DVC has a strong network of programs; coordinators meet monthly for strategic planning to help victims find safety and rebuild their and their children’s lives. (Victims who are able to access these life-saving essential services are 60 percent less likely to be assaulted again in the next year.)

Agencies involved with the DVC are the Department of Human Services-Child Welfare, District Attorney’s office, HAVEN, City of The Dalles Police, Parole & Probation, Senior Disabled Services, Wasco County Commission on Children and Families, Wasco County Sherriff’s office, Wasco Youth Services and TSI. Additionally, the DVC puts together trainings for local agencies; faith-based community and the public, educating and improving response and the quality of life for those affected by violence, abuse, and/or trauma.
