Domestic Violence

Abuse happens in every culture, every country, every social status and every age group, and it may be happening to you. If you are being abused, you may feel frightened, hurt, confused, disappointed, angry, ashamed, or hopeless. No one deserves to be abused, threatened or controlled.

Nothing you say or do causes your partner to act emotionally, physically or sexually violent toward you. It is impossible for you to prevent these attacks. Abusers choose to abuse; they think violence and/or power and control is the best way to solve problems or to get someone to do what they want. But, no one has the right to harm you. This kind of behavior is wrong, and it’s against the law.

Domestic violence does not go away on its own. It tends to get worse and become more frequent over time. Whether or not you decide to leave your partner, there are ways to try to keep yourself and/or your children safe. Call HAVEN to explore these options.
