Mission and Values

HAVEN’s mission is to provide services to victims of family violence; domestic, teen and sexual violence, and stalking and to promote the value of living free from abuse.

Values and Philosophy

HAVEN believes that all people have a right to violence-free lives. Domestic violence, teen dating violence, sexual assault and child abuse should never be tolerated or condoned. These acts have a devastating effect on victims, their families and society as a whole.

HAVEN believes that abuse is an act of power and control that the victim does not provoke, enjoy or deserve. Victims can regain control of their lives by accessing appropriate support services through HAVEN and its community partners.

HAVEN believes that all women, children and men have a right to their own identities and to be free of violence. Education is a vital component in working toward the prevention of physical and sexual violence.

HAVEN believes in empowering survivors of abuse and violence to make their own decisions and to exercise their right to self-determination. HAVEN believes this is equally true for women and men.
